Making The Most Of Your Outdoor Space

If you’re lucky enough to have gardens or outside space on your property, why not take full advantage of it? Done well it can be an extension of your home and gives you another space to use and enjoy. If yours is currently just wasted space, here are some of the ways you can put it to some good use.

Have a Swimming Pool Built

If you have plenty of outside space to spare and you’re not currently doing much with it- why not consider a swimming pool? A heated pool will be fine to use all year round, so even if you live in a chillier climate, it’s something you could consider. An excellent way to get exercise, and means you could throw awesome pool parties for friends and family in the summer. If you currently have a pool that’s not being used, why not bring it back up to scratch? If it hasn’t been used in a while, you may need to look into getting it professionally cleaned. If it’s an older pool, chances are you’ll need vinyl liner pool repair work done too.

Consider a Pond or Water Feature

A pond is a fantastic feature to add to the garden. It’s good for the wildlife, and you can expect to attract birds, insects, and amphibians such as frogs. It’s a great use of any wasted space and allows for a natural little tranquil area in your garden to sit and enjoy. To go a step further you could even add a water feature to the pond. Something like a small waterfall or fountain will create the relaxing sound of water flowing. This can help to drown out background noise and make your garden more peaceful. You could always opt for a standalone water feature without a pond if you have less space.

Look Into Extensions and Garden Rooms

If you have a lot of room on your property, you could consider extending your house to make it larger. For example, if you’ve always hated your small kitchen and wanted to embrace the trend for larger and more open cooking spaces, this is one way to go. If you’re not able to reconfigure the space inside, you could consider extending outwards. Alternatively, a large glass extension would make an excellent dining space or a way to make your living space larger. If you go for a two-story extension, you could add an extra bedroom or bathroom upstairs too. Another way to make good use of your outdoor space is by considering a ‘garden room.’ These can be turned into things like home offices, studios, or even guest bedrooms.

Create a Decked Area

Decking is a perfect way to make use of your outdoor space and looks fantastic in both small and large gardens alike. A decked ‘stage’ area makes an ideal outdoor dining space or a place to host barbecues or garden parties in the summer. Correctly installed decking will even add value to your property. If maintaining wooden decking seems like too much effort, go for composite instead.
